Behind The Scenes in Pittsburgh

Back in August, I traveled "home" to visit family and friends in Pittsburgh and to take part in a  4-day Hair of the Dog retreat/pet photography workshop with the extremely talented Nicole Begley. It was an awesome experience that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in pet photography, whether just starting out or already established!

We learned a TON, from shooting techniques to the not so fun business side of things (LOL, it's an evil necessity!) to having our own session where we were teamed up with a furry model and their human to practice what we had learned on the last day of the workshop at the Cathedral of Learning and Carnegie Library in Oakland (see my previous blog titled "A Mini Schnauzer on the loose in Pittsburgh") .

I thought it would be fun to share some of my behind-the-scenes cell phone photos with you from the first full day of the workshop where we left our beloved cameras home to "shadow" Nicole and watch her in action, shooting a session from start to finish!

So here we go, off on our adventure to downtown Pittsburgh where we met up with Mona and her mom at the convention center...

Isn't Mona the cutest?!

Nicole is all about getting as low/close to the ground as possible - I do believe she's mastered it!

p.s. Have I told you how much I LOVE the 'Burgh?! The last photo below is, of course, not from the workshop but a view of the skyline from PNC Park where I, the hubby, son and daughter in law got to catch a Pirates game a few nights later!

A mini Schnauzer on the loose in Pittsburgh

For those of you that don't know, I hopped a plane on August 6th and headed east to take part in a 4-day Hair of the Dog pet photography workshop in Pittsburgh with the AWESOME Nicole Begley of Nicole Begley Photography! Such a great experience (more on that in an up and coming blog) :)

On our final day, we headed to the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh where each attendee was paired up with a fur model and their human sidekick for a photo session around The Cathedral of Learning and The Carnegie Library.

Meet Ms. Chiloh (an identical twin to Pawztography's own fur "child", Brimley) ….

Can you believe this was in the middle of the city?!

We even found some beautiful flowers in the midst of it all!

So many sights and sounds in the city….

Showing off a classic Schnauzer pose … again, can you believe this is smack dab in the middle of the city?!

And one final image, my favorite…. Chiloh acting as keeper/guard dog of The Carnegie Library.

Thank you, again, Nicole for an awesome four days of shadowing and learning and to Chiloh and her human sidekick, Cheryl, for an unforgettable hour of fun in the 'Burgh!
