Behind The Scenes in Pittsburgh

Back in August, I traveled "home" to visit family and friends in Pittsburgh and to take part in a  4-day Hair of the Dog retreat/pet photography workshop with the extremely talented Nicole Begley. It was an awesome experience that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in pet photography, whether just starting out or already established!

We learned a TON, from shooting techniques to the not so fun business side of things (LOL, it's an evil necessity!) to having our own session where we were teamed up with a furry model and their human to practice what we had learned on the last day of the workshop at the Cathedral of Learning and Carnegie Library in Oakland (see my previous blog titled "A Mini Schnauzer on the loose in Pittsburgh") .

I thought it would be fun to share some of my behind-the-scenes cell phone photos with you from the first full day of the workshop where we left our beloved cameras home to "shadow" Nicole and watch her in action, shooting a session from start to finish!

So here we go, off on our adventure to downtown Pittsburgh where we met up with Mona and her mom at the convention center...

Isn't Mona the cutest?!

who would have thought you could find grass and awesome nooks and crannies in the middle of the city?

Nicole is all about getting as low/close to the ground as possible - I do believe she's mastered it!

I'd love to know what was running though Mona's mind :)

p.s. Have I told you how much I LOVE the 'Burgh?! The last photo below is, of course, not from the workshop but a view of the skyline from PNC Park where I, the hubby, son and daughter in law got to catch a Pirates game a few nights later!
